WHO WE ARE

We are Fairfax County’s foremost leadership organization. For over 30 years, we have collaborated across sectors to inspire, develop and engage leaders to impact issues facing our local community and the region at large. We offer three community leadership programs: Leadership Fairfax Institute (LFI), Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI), and Lifetime Leaders Program (LLP). Applications for the 2023 - 2024 Program Year will open in January 2023. 

We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1987 by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce (now the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce). Our program graduates are proven leaders in business, government, and nonprofit sectors of Northern Virginia. Together we are building a stronger community.

WHAT WE DO

Leadership Fairfax trains individuals to become more effective community and all-around leaders. Based on an experiential model, each class member explores leadership competencies, increases self-awareness and learns how to engage on critical issues in the community. Our faculty, all certified executive coaches, utilizes a continuous improvement model to deliver the highest quality training using the newest and most effective techniques. We call this our “coach approach.”

Leadership Fairfax graduates use their skills and influence to engage with others, think creatively and solve issues facing the region. Our 2,000+ alumni have logged over 340,000 volunteer community service hours serving nonprofits and Fairfax County advisory boards and commissions, providing direct resource development and program services, and becoming elected officials.

In addition to offering our signature programs we are proud to partner with local organizations to present educational leadership events and community forums. We host the annual Northern Virginia Leadership Awards to recognize exceptional leaders in the Northern Virginia area. Our Board of Supervisors Breakfast gives our alumni and guests an opportunity to hear directly from the County leadership.
