Our Programs

Leadership Fairfax is dedicated to educating and developing community leaders in Northern Virginia. Through its programs, Leadership Fairfax seeks to build leaders who raise the tide not only in their organization or local community but also in the whole Northern Virginia area. Graduates from all three programs, numbering over 1,500, connect the Fairfax community across all sectors - public, private and nonprofit - and provide a pool of informed and enthusiastic leaders with an investment in the positive future of the region.

Each year, the following programs are offered:

The 10-month Signature LFI Program brings together between 40-50 diverse leaders from all parts of the county.  The program emphasizes experiential learning - participants immerse themselves in community issues, working in teams to study challenging problems in the county. Through the process, participants learn about their leadership style and leadership competencies, improve their skills, and learn how to use those skills to affect real change.

The Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) is a 10-month program that brings together approximately 30-35 motivated energetic early to mid-career professionals from the business, nonprofit, and government sectors. Participants polish their leadership skills, receive individual mentoring or coaching support, and participate in community service projects that enhance their personal and professional resumes. ELI develops leadership skills and competencies that accelerate the process of becoming a leader at work and in the community.

The Lifetime Leaders Program (LLP) is a 2 month program offered in partnership with Volunteer Fairfax and supported by the Positive Aging Coalition and George Mason University.  The program brings together 15 to 20 established professionals who are preparing for retirement or are newly retired, and are interested in engaging in their community, its challenges and opportunities. Building on their expertise and knowledge, they explore meaningful roles for the next stage of their lives

Tuition for the LFI program is $4,000.

Tuition for the ELI program is $3,000.

Tuition for LLP is $500.
